General Description This position assumes the authority, responsibility and accountability of applying for and processing Medicaid applications of Premier Health Care Management skilled nursing facilities. The Medicaid Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of Medicaid pending applications, as well as working with the individual resident and/or resident families to obtain necessary information to process Medicaid applications. Essential Functions: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct Medicaid pending applications for all facilities. Ensure accurate and thorough collection of personal and financial information in order to process Medicaid applications for Premier Health Care Management facilities. Work individually with the Medicaid pending resident and/or resident’s family as appropriate to obtain all necessary information to process Medicaid applications. Develop and maintain working relationships with outside agencies and Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services to assist resident in obtaining approved Medicaid applications as applicable. Notify Billing Supervisor of any potential reasons for denials of Medicaid pending resident applications. Non-essential Functions: Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment. Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent resident care information to ensure resident rights are protected. Release information in accordance with established policies. Accountabilities: Responsible to the Billing Supervisor for all duties as outlined in this position description. Specifications: Works in office areas as well as throughout the organization's facilities. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays and other shifts as needed. Be knowledgeable in the use of computers, data entry and monitoring. Must be well groomed and professionally dressed. Must have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with residents, families and personnel. Must be able to operate office equipment. Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
