Position Summary: Management of the day-to-day Manufacturing Engineering operation and quality at the plant level. Development and implementation of required plant projects, including Lean Enterprise initiatives. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Reports to the Plant Manager. Manager will have supervision over Machine Programmers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineering Trainee's that are in the plant. Interacts routinely with all functional areas as well as with customers, field sales, regulatory agencies, division/group/corporate management, and suppliers. Essential Functions: -Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean manufacturing/ production principles and techniques to areas of production. -Develop and evaluate new processes and improve current process capability, efficiency, and overall productivity in all areas of manufacturing and machining on new and existing products. Responsible for the programming / troubleshooting of CNC equipment, designing of tools, fixtures, and gauges, and determination of process parameters to achieve desired production goals and quality standards. -Review and stay current with the most up to date CNC machining methods and applying those concepts to our manufacturing processes. -Recommend product changes/improvements to Product Engineers. -Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements. -Determine root cause of failure using statistical methods (e.g., design of experiment, SPC) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods. -Support Production Control and production management requirements to achieve maximum customer service. -Research and prepare capital acquisition (AFE) for the plant requirements. -Management of functions to maintain facility, this includes building and grounds. -Communicates customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality, contract compliance and customer satisfaction. -Oversees the effective documentation and implementation of the quality management system to assure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements and the standards set by corporate/division policies. -Works with the leadership team to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting quality are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results. -Coordinates necessary plant personnel for internal, customer and third-party quality system audits. -Maintains a corrective action system to analyze and correct nonconforming conditions and complaints. -Implements the performance measurements necessary to effectively evaluate organizational performance and trends in product quality, services, customer satisfaction and the cost of poor quality. Uses the results of performance evaluation to target improvement efforts. -Assess supplier capabilities and monitor supplier quality to ensure desired levels of performance.Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in an Engineering or related discipline. -3-5 Years of Quality, Engineering or related experience. -3-5 years of CNC Machining experience / programming experience -Knowledge of manufacturing and quality practices. -Experience with quality improvement tools and techniques (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis). -Demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation and problem-solving skills. -Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skill.
