Job Description

Shipping and Receiving Technician
 
 Hendrickson - Canton
 

Position Purpose:

Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all documents. For a variety of outbound and inbound shipments. Interfaces with internal and external personnel to address and resolve issues associated with transportation of products. Responsible for selecting the most economical routing for inbound and outbound shipments. Coordinates all freight pick-up with a variety of common carriers and customers. Also responsible for all aspects of materials controls department. Cycle counting, receiving, movement of material, and product to each work center and between buildings, and shipping

Essential Functions:

  • Process all shipping and receiving documents in a manner consistent with accounting guidelines and the materials department standards of performance.
  • Perform all material picks and distribute to production floor, put away received parts in the warehouse.
  • Shipping- main truck loader, call in trucks, package UPS orders.
  • Receiving – main truck un-loader, main parts transfer to storage, receive all parts and raw steel.
  • 5S Warehouses the Yard Daily
  • Interface with internal and external personnel to insure an acceptable solution is achieved to properly address situations pertaining to freight rates, modes of transportation, claims, freight pick-ups, etc.
  • Coordinate the preparation of freight with other departmental personnel to insure the timely loading and unloading of trucks. Audits freight shipment to insure integrity standards are met.
  • Receipt and processing of RGA’s.

Education and Training

  • Degree in business, materials or related field a plus
  • APICS certification or pursuing certification a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, Intranet, etc.)

Physical Demands

  • Frequent sitting, work at computer for extended periods of time.

Behavioral Traits

  • Good leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and time management.
  • Self-starter, conscientious, enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • All around team player.
