Perform engineering work of various types in the electrical design or re-design, and development of electrical systems into existing and new, medium and heavy-duty defense trucks. Exercise independent judgment and action. Will require working closely with suppliers, engineering specialists, and other departments. This person will provide resource estimates for project planning as well.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS - Utilize strong design and troubleshooting knowledge of heavy-duty off-highway vehicle type electrical systems, including power distribution, controls circuitry, and CAN bus communication networks. - Utilize Creo 3D modeling software integrated with software such as Routed Systems Designer to develop wiring schematics and harnesses. - Work with various regulations and standards for design compliance. - Select parts and/or design components for function, cost, reliability, and manufacturability. - Interact as necessary directly with suppliers. - Interact as necessary with various other engineering groups and functions within the organization. - Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills. - Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Plan and direct relevant activities through all phases of innovation and development. - Assist in feasibility studies and project estimates on proposed projects. - Direct preparation of layouts, drawings, specification, and bills of material. - Establish tasks and priorities for work delegated to others, including off-shore resources. - Consider and communicate control system design implications and requirements as a result of electrical systems design. - Utilize various tools such as multimeters / oscilloscopes, Vector Canalyzer and proprietary programming tools for design verification and interrogation.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or similar associated discipline.
