• Developing innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability for new or existing products within MRI surface coils. • Make required calculations to establish acceptable standards of performance, material/component selection, and type of construction. • Produce drawings, layouts, and/or diagrams from sketches, existing drawings, electronic images, design concepts and/or verbal instructions • Capture and produce a design that meets all product requirements for either new or existing products • Conduct stress/strain analysis, thermal simulation, and reliability calculations. • Establish design standards, procedures and techniques to produce high reliability products (such as Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability) • Verify that all drawings and documents convey complete and accurate information. • Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate such as engineering prints, bills of materials, and related product specifications to allow successful transfer to manufacturing • Share and accept technical experience and guidance with other design team members. • Check design work of other engineering members including layout, form, fit, function, materials, specification callouts, dimensioning, and other outputs as requested • Work directly with different business functions and team members to meet serviceability, functional and manufacturability requirements • Coordinate procurement of prototype material as well as oversee the build and verification of design • May work on design projects that reduce the cost and improve reliability of the product, as well as, designing necessary equipment or fixtures that are needed during the new product development cycle or with installed base products • Assist with the preparation of proposal documentation, technical data such as qualification test procedures, reports and component maintenance manuals • Proactively interact with vendors and customers. • Comply with EHS regulations and policies, Quality Assurance and Regulations.
Skills Required: • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering • 3+ years using computer assisted design equipment and software to develop designs using Creo and Solidworks. • Working knowledge of plastic Injection Molding • 3+ years relative engineering experience including structural (Static & Dynamics), FEA and thermal analysis.
