Our Client located in the Hudson, Ohio area is seeking:

The Automation / Controls Engineer will be responsible for creating, modifying, and training on various automation systems. The ideal candidate will design, develop, program, and support all automation needs to both internal and external customers, and will be able to work within a team environment.

Our Client is the world leader in the design, manufacture, service and support of precision rubber and polymer laboratory instrumentation and data acquisition/analysis software systems.

Essential Job Functions – Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality standards are met and respond to inquiries during assembly
  • Develop electrical design, schematics, BOMs, and panel layouts in CAD (code compliant - UL, CE, CSA, others as needed)
  • Perform basic robot programming setup, changes, and troubleshooting
  • Assist in field PLC installation, simulation and debugging, support Factory Acceptance Testing, commissioning and after sales troubleshooting
  • Understand client requirements for GUI/communication interface, IOT monitoring, networking and create specifications based on these requirements
  • Design, develop, and test the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, and systems
  • Inspect completed installations / projects and confirm conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards
  • Provide basic technical support to external and internal customers
  • Modify systems upon customer request and documents the amendments accordingly.
  • Resolve basic operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
  • Assist in testing and supporting new and enhanced software applications
  • Design and develop software applications based on given requirements and specifications utilizing an OMRON platform
  • Perform PLC, HMI configuration, detailed design and engineering of the PLC control schematics
  • Produce control solutions and PLC /HMI software design package according to SOC, technical specification and standardized design practices
  • Design software and electrical customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems

Education – Experience – Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent field required
  • 5+ years of experience in the controls or automation Industry
  • Working knowledge of C#, HTML, JAVA and ASP.NET web based applications programming, OPL beneficial
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP
  • Must be able and willing to travel globally up to 25% and work at customer sites for extended periods of time under various conditions
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Outstanding written/verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL server and IIS
  • Well versed in Omron, Siemens, Rockwell PLC-Software and HMI programming
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments
  • Ability to balance multiple projects
