Project Engineer - Injection Molding, Budgets, Cost Estimates, GD&T - Akron, OH - JOB 18-00586
 
Salary Range: $75K - $80K - Permanent Position with Benefits.

A manufacturer of injection molds and part finishing services is seeking to hire a Project Engineer to lead and manage technical projects across disciplinary lines from inception to production readiness and will be responsible for the overall financial and schedule status of projects assigned. Ensure all projects are on budget, on time, and meet expectations.
 
REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics, Polymers, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in injection molding, tooling, and engineering.
  • Must have solid experience in managing mold suppliers, both domestic and offshore.
  • Project Management, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is desired but not required.
  • Mold-making background is a plus.
  • Must have strong knowledge of injection molding processes and operations.
  • Scientific molding experience a plus.
  • Must have strong knowledge of injection mold tooling design and construction.
  • Must have good working knowledge of engineering and commodity resins.
  • Must have good working knowledge of drafting and tolerancing techniques, including G.D.&T.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) & have basic 3D CAD skills for translating, viewing, and modification of customer design files. Main software used is SolidWorks.  Pro E is plus.
  • Good working knowledge of mold-filling analysis a plus.


DUTIES

  • Effectively communicating using ERP system and standard reporting mechanisms available.
  • Prepare cost estimates and customer quotations for tooling and support equipment.
  • Reviewing customer designs to identify manufacturing issues, poor steel conditions, cost reductions, quality improvements.
  • Develop, maintain, and publish project timelines using IQMS system and other available resources.
  • Develop project budget & assuming responsibility for financial performance of projects.
  • Track and manage project scope changes to ensure schedule and financial issues are properly documented and resolved.
  • Working closely with all fellow personnel to achieve departmental and company goals.
