Summary: The Maintenance Supervisor monitors and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts and tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Directs workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment.
  • Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Directs workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  • Requisitions and keeps supply of spare parts.
  • Troubleshoots robots/automation.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Enforces safety regulations.
  • Enforces good housekeeping practices and maintains an organized work environment.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Performs activities of workers supervised.

The Maintenance Supervisor Oversight Responsibilities:

Directly supervises 15-20 employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The Maintenance Supervisor Education and/or Experience:

Minimum 10 years work experience in a related field. Journeyman Apprentice or completion of technical training required. Five to seven years related experience supervising a maintenance crew in a unionized environment.

Other Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:

  • Excellent troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to troubleshoot robots/automation using PLC ladder logic a plus
  • Must have working knowledge in the areas of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and fabrication
  • Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance systems
  • Ideal candidate will be able to work any of our three (3) shifts and weekends as needed
